Spotlight: Hannah Beesley

    1. Name: Hannah Jean Beesley
    2. Nick Names: Hannah Banana, Hannah Montana, Hanners, Han, Punkin' Haney
    3. Birthday: January 26, 1980
    4. Hometown: This is a hard one. I was born in SLC, but we moved to MI when I was 7, then to MN at 10, and then later that same year to Calgary, Alberta. A few years after that we moved to St. Albert, Alberta. I feel like that's most where I'm from--I spent my formative years there anyway.
    5. Where you took your pre-requisites: Everywhere! It feels like anyway. I have a degree from USU so a lot of those classes counted towards this. But I also took some classes at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA. (My dad lives there so I was able to live at home and be bill-free. Yay!)
    6. Favorite Color: I don't have just one, but shades of blue and green are pretty good.
    7. Favorite candy or dessert: Holly Berry Cookies--they're amazing! And they'll turn your mouth dark green ( sort of like the disclosing tablets so pink...) I'll bring some in during finals week for everyone. They're definitely my favorite. Oh and pecan pie too. Life could not continue without pecan pie. Or gummy bears.
    8. Favorite food: Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Love 'em!
    9. Married/single: Single. Know any great guys? There's 59 of you...someone's gotta know a great single guy, right?? Lol.
   10. How many siblings do you have/ where do you fall in place: 5 siblings. I'm smack dab in the middle
   11. Favorite Hobbies: Hiking, camping, backpacking, swimming, skiing (x-country and downhill), reading. I love to read.
   12. Favorite Movie: Haha, this is embarrassing... Dirty Dancing. That final dance scene is sooo great. "Nobody puts Baby in the corner."
   13. Favorite Book: I have three: Ender's Game, the Bean Trees, and Special Topics in Calamity Physics (don't let the name scare you, it's such a great book and has nothing to do with physics).
   14. You’re hero/ someone who has impacted your life: My grandpa. He was the best (in every sense of the word) man I've ever known.
   15. An embarrassing story about you: Oh there are so many...but here's a not so bad one: One time I was kissing a boy and went to brush my hair out of the way (because it was "wicked long" as he called it) and sliced my eyebrow open with my fingernail. Real smooth, I know. I still have the scar.
   16. Favorite super hero and why: Uh...Thor. I think that one's pretty self-explanatory, haha.
   17. Dream place to travel: Bora Bora. There was a picture of Bora Bora on the back of my Oceanography textbook back at USU. I've wanted to I there ever since. Oh, and Greece too.
   18. Any hidden talents: I can tie a cherry stem with my mouth. I play the flute, and can read French (mostly).
   19. What is your greatest fear: Tornadoes. And that one day I'll wake up and find out all my teeth really did crumble and fall out!
   20. What accomplishment are you most proud of: At my last job I took a department that had been left in shambles by the last manager and had become despised by the rest of the company because of that manager and turned it around. It was so much work trying to gain everyone's trust in our department, but I did it. And I got Manager of the Year that year.
   21. When you were a kid what did you want to be: I thought I'd play with a symphony somewhere. I'd still love to someday.
   22. Favorite Holiday: Christmas. I love the trees, the decorations, the music, the snow, the parties, and the coziness of it all.
   23. Favorite animal: Cats. Big, small, all sizes. I'd really like to have a tiger actually... Anyone know how I could get one?  I'd also really like a penguin.
   24. Favorite season: It used to be winter. But I don't know now...this week has started to change my mind.
   25. Any pet peeves: Oh boy, there are lots. Prepare yourselves:
- Not getting 'your' and 'you're' correct.
- Chewing with your mouth open.
- People who interrupt.
- People don't listen when the answer to their question is given.
- When rules aren't followed. (Someone probably didn't make them up just for the fun of it.)
- Rudeness. (Seriously, there are so many ways to say the same thing. Find the tactful one.)
I'd better stop or you guys are going to think I'm impossible to please!
   26. Favorite Music: I like all kinds really, but I have a special fondness for 80s hair bands--particularly Def Leppard and Bon Jovi.
   27. Do you have any pets: Two cats: Tinkerbell and Penelope. And a goldfish named June (she's had two tank mates--Johnny and Benny, but they both died).
   28. Favorite quote: One option is to struggle to be heard whenever you're in the room... Another is to be the sort of person who is missed when you are not. The first involves making noise. The second involves making a difference."
-Seth Godin
   29. Favorite age and why: Now, 33. Because I'm truly comfortable with who I am; with what I know and what I don't know.
   30. Any other interesting things that weren't asked that we should know: Well...
- I have a 7 year old little sister. It's kind of weird. I'm old enough to be her mom!
- My cats are toilet trained. Like to actually go in the toilet. It's awesome.

Halloween Party 2013

Its HALLOWEEN!!! And the UCDH girls of 2015 have been celebrating. We kicked off the holiday celebration at our Halloween party this Saturday. Thank you to all who were able to come! and especially to everyone who helped by pitching in!

Natalie's barn was the perfect location! Up in the loft the decorations looked awesome as people came to celebrate.  Thanks to everyone bringing treats, there was plenty of delicious food to eat as people got to mingle and show off their costumes.

Along with lots of food there was pumpkin decorating, pin the tooth on the pumpkin, doughnut eating contests and Fear Factor.

Thanks again to everyone who helped. I think it turned out pretty great for our first party and as we experiment and learn, they are only going to get better! Can't wait for our next big activity!

Spotlight: Kelsey Haberman

    1. Name: Kelsey Salisbury Haberman
    2. Nick Names: Kels, Kelsey Rae, Kelsey Sue, Kelsey Marie, Kelso, Red, Big Red, Ginger, Salisbury, Habs (pronounced Hobs). My friends and family like to give me random middle names because I don’t actually have one.
    3. Birthday: January 15th
    4. Hometown: Basin City, Washington
   5. Where you took your pre-requisites: BYU-Idaho and Weber State University
   6. Favorite Color: Coral (but I am really a fan of any bright, fun loving color!)
   7. Favorite candy or dessert: I have too many, so I’ll say anything with chocolate.
   8. Favorite food: One of my hobbies is trying new foods, but my current favorite is Indian.
   9.  Married/single: Married 2 years.
10.How many siblings do you have/ where do you fall in place? I have four siblings, two sisters and two brothers. I am the oldest.
  11. Favorite Hobbies: Boating, crafts, hanging out with family and friends, hiking, piano, pinning, running, shopping, volleyball, watching movies/television, water aerobics. I’m up for anything.
  12. Favorite Movie: I have too many. I love movies. Some of my favorites are Pitch Perfect, Safe Haven, and What to Expect While You Are Expecting.
  13. Favorite Book: The Hunger Games series is my current.
  14. You’re hero/ someone who has impacted your life: I have two heroes. My grandfather, June Bastian. My husband, Taylor is the second. If you want to know why you can ask. :)
  15. An embarrassing story about you: I have bitten a girl’s butt. Confused? Let me explain further. In high school, we were cheering our basketball team at state. At half-time, we performed, and somehow, and I don’t even know how, my flyer was coming down. My side bases were nowhere to be found. I wasn’t a fan of having anyone hitting the ground on my watch (I was a back base for those who are following). So she landed on me. My body was her mat. We recovered and continue our half-time show. I noticed my flyer, Madie had blood coming down from her butt in the shape of a U. I had no idea how she exactly got her wound. I told her about it when we got off the court. I was in so much shock at what had happened, and I stood at the side of the court for a while without calling out a cheer (I was captain). I opened my jaw to call a cheer minutes later after my heart stopped racing, and it was so sore! I had then realized the shape of her wound was of my lower jaw. It was so embarrassing. “I bit a girl’s butt and I liked it!” Oh man, the memories of high school.
  16. Favorite super hero and why? I switch between Iron Man and Thor. Iron Man has a funny sense of humor. However, Thor appeals to me because he is someone who had everything and lost everything, and gained it all back being humbled in the process. And there is something noble and sexy about that.
  17. Dream place to travel? Anywhere in Europe, I’m down!
  18. Any hidden talents? Most people don’t know that I play the piano anymore. I was called to play the piano in a lot of callings in my religious organization for about 10 years and I got so sick of it that now it is something I hide. I also play the flute.
  19. What is your greatest fear? I dislike this question very much! I have a fear of being rejected and a fear that people don’t love and/or care about me.
  20. What accomplishment are you most proud of? Getting into UCDH. It took me so long to get here because of my fear and the unbelief of so many (including myself) that I couldn't accomplish this dream of mine.
  21. When you were a kid what did you want to be? When I was a toddler, I wanted to be a concert pianist. A few years later, I wanted to be a marine biologist because of a fascination I had with dolphins.
  22. Favorite Holiday: Christmas. I love being cozy, sitting at the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa looking out to a snow filled place. Surrounded with family and making memories.
23.Favorite animal: Dolphins and horses. I also like dogs and cats.
  24. Favorite season: Fall. I love wearing the clothes suited for the season and my fair skin can have its chance to glow after a long filled summer of ugly pale skin!
  25. Any pet peeves? This may sound silly. I don’t have any. If I did I would notice those pet peeves seen in the great people around me. And that wouldn’t be fun, positive or fair to the person next to me. It doesn’t mean things don’t bother me sometimes, but my way of thinking is the best for me in my life.
26.Favorite Music: I like just about anything, as long as it doesn’t scream or is vulgar.
27.Do you have any pet? Does half a pet count? My in-laws have a German Shepherd named Zoey. We live with them and she loves my husband more than anyone in the family.
  28. Favorite quote: I have tons of quotes that I love, but I’ll share a good one for school that helps my mindset when everyone starts stressing out. This quote can also apply to being stressed. “Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere” – Anonymous
  29. Favorite age and why? I have to say 21. It was the one of the worst yet happiest time of my life. I grew and learned a lot of life lessons in those 12 months.
Any other interesting things that weren't asked that we should know? I love life. I love friends and family. I love doing fun things, especially girly things. I am pretty much an open book. And I am baby hungry.
